2 cups Fels Naphtha Soap finely grated

1 cup Borax

Mix well and store in an airtight plastic container.

Let the soap sit for about 24 hours or until it gels. Pour into plastic bottles filling bottles

3/4 full. Add water to fill the container also full, cap and shake well. You use

½ cup per load to begin with and increase amount if you need more.

2 C warm water

2 T yeast

1 tsp. salt

2 T cinnamon

2 eggs

1. Pour warm water into mixing bowl. 

2. Sprinkle yeast over the top. 

3. Sprinkle a teaspoon of sugar and gently stir. 

4. Mix together salt, cinnamon, sugar and flour.

5. After yeast has proofed, bubbles have formed, add ½ of the flour mixture. 

6. Add egg and mix to combine.

7. Add remaining flour and stir one to two minutes. Bread should come away from the

side of the bowl.

8. Let rise until double in size. Punch down and divide in half. Roll to width of your

bread pan by 16-18 inches long.

9. Sprinkle with cinnamon/sugar mixture.

10. Roll tightly.

11. Place in greased bread pan and bake 375 degrees 20-25 minutes.

2 tablespoons sugar


In a mixer, combine flour, ¼ cup sugar, baking powder and salt. Cut the cold butter into 1/2 inch pieces. Add the butter to

the dry ingredients and mix on low using paddle beater until the butter is the size of peas. In a separate bowl, beat eggs

and milk. Turn the mixer on low and slowly add egg mixture. Turn off mixer and fold in cranberries. Put some flour on the counter.

Turn the dough out onto the floured surface. Sprinkle flour onto the top of the dough, pat it into a disk

about 9 inches in diameter. Cut the into 8 pieces like a pie. Sprinkle with 2 tablespoons sugar.

Separate the pieces and put them on a silpat or parchment lined baking sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 12-15 minutes.

    I have been following you for a year or so. Don't get discouraged, there are lots of folks that appreciate all the work you are doing! I love the new getting out of debt posts. We need to shave as much as possible. Have you ever looked at Tere Foster's My Whole Foods Kitchen? She has a complete cookbook strictly from foods we can store that are also healthy. I have cut my grocery bill tremendously following her suggestions. It takes time to learn to process your own foods, but it is so worth it.. We are all about doing things more frugally to become self sufficient anyway, right?
