As I have watched the economy this year, and heard from many of you, it has become more and more important to me that we expand our numbers. Everyone needs to know what we know. Families throughout the world are suffering from the failing economy and an increase in natural disasters.

How we save money:
We put all our electric centers: TV area, computer area, ect. on Power adapter strips and when not in use we turn it all off with one easy switch. All light bulbs were replace with LED or CFL florescent bulbs. (my son dropped his electric bill from $123 a month to $37 but doing this alone!)
Ceiling fans to bring hot air down in winter and hot air up in summer.
We are currently working to greatly reduce our trash! We reuse paper for notes, making paper pots for the garden, etc. Cans are being saved to transplant larger plants into for the garden, I reuse plastic containers that have screw on lids for dry pack storage items like beans and wheat. We’ve gone from 2 to 4 large trash bags a week to one small walmart type bag. Our trash service went up to $34 a month so good buy trash service.
Seal up leaks and insulate real good!
Have your years supply! Live on it! Instead of regular grocery trips you can now shop for whats on sell! We shop once a month and only replace what we have used. I needed to replace pineapple but it wasn’t on sell but shampoo’s, soaps etc. was! I replenished our supply for a faction of the cost getting shampoo’s that are normally $3.50 a bottle for .79 cents each. I can wait for up to 5 month’s to get the pineapple because I have the years supply to work with and won’t be totally out until this summer! Store what you eat, eat what you store!
Save your change! My daughter is putting her change from tips into a small jar and once a month she takes it to the bank to put into savings. She always had at least $60 in it! Change adds up get a jar and start putting your change in it! We use to have a big 5 gallon water bottle the whole family through change into. When we bought our house they under estimated our closing costs by $1500! We only had an hours notice so we ran and got the bottle and headed to the bank and sure enough we came within $20 of what we needed and were able to close as planned that day! Change adds up so get your jars out and start filling them!
Wow!! That is awesome. I have a few things on power strips but I should add a few more. I can not for the life of me understand on these home decorating shows why they always take down the ceiling fans! How foolish! I love my ceiling fans! Only shopping when things are on sale is another good response as to why we should prepare (see our yahoo group discussion). I love that feeling. Thanks so much for your ideas.
What a great way to start the year! Thanks for offering this giveaway. I am an email subscriber and a yahoo group member. I follow you regularly, and have for almost a year. I am so much more secure and prepared now than I was…and I rest more easily because of the preparations I’ve made. Still following, and working to be “Totally Ready!”
Thanks for the winter prep tips- what great information you have gathered!
It is so helpful not having to compile all this information. It is hard to put together fact sheets for preparation classes and I stumbled to this information! Thank you!
I hope I can share it with the copyright information attached and linking it to your website.
Thank you!!
