I listened to the show a couple days ago and tried the resturant.com
thing. I punched in every zip code within 100 miles and there were no
restaurants in my area taking part. I make most our stuff from scratch
including soaps, chip[s, ect so couponing is worthless to me.

  2. seedplanter says:

I’ve never used that type of coupon (restaurant) but some of my children have.
Just a thought–is it possible to buy that type of coupon and give it as a
Christmas or birthday gift? I would think that $2 for a $25 coupon would be a
nice gift for the relatives you know who would use it. One of our children used
to give one McDonald coupon to his brothers and sisters for Christmas when he
was growing up. This would cost him about the same amount of money and seem
like a nicer gift–especially now that he is a bit older.

Yes, you can gift them to others, HOWEVER, I would really contact the actual restaraunt and see if they are still accepting the restaraunt.com coupons. I purchased 4 coupons for a place for my sister and when they went to use them, they said they had asked the R.com to take them down. So they wouldn’t honor the coupon. :( just an FYI

  4. cherlynn says:

I think from what Carolyn said in her blog that you could give them away but not actually seeing them, clueless on the expiration dates!

  5. admin says:

If that were the case I would make it clear I would never return to that restaurant. When you purchase something in good faith you should get what you paid for. I would also contact restaurants.com and ask for a refund. The restaurant may have signed a contract and it had not expired. My vote is the restaurant was in the wrong.

  6. admin says:

The ones I purchased did not have an expiration date.

I can’t speak fir everyone but here is my experience:
We live in Houston and there are a lot participating in this. We once did go to a place that no longer used the coupon but we told then we would just leave then and then they came back and said they would honor it.
I have given this as gifts as well. They dont have expirations dates, as far as it goes for the ones I have used. I just bought another one today to a Brazilian place. If you use the code:AUTUMN, you get a $25 G.C. for $2 PLUS a $10 GC to the website.
Read the fine print. Some you have to buy two entrees or spend $35 for a $25 GC. which means you will pay $10 there. Still a good deal though. We use these for going out since we like to try new places and are never sure if it will be worth it or not.
Ok. I hope that helps to clarify…
