Best Free Binary Option Signals 5 Minutes Money Saving in the Kitchen

  • A small burner on your stove top costs 18 cents per hour, a large burner 36 cents per hour and an electric skillet only 14 cents per hour. A skillet is also usually larger and you can cook more food at the same time, further reducing the amount of time it would take to cook the same foods on a stove.

  • A slow cooker costs only 2.4 cents an hour. You will cook longer in the slow cooker, 6 to 8 hours. It would cost you 14.4 cents for 6 hours in a crock pot, while it would cost 18 cents for just a half hour on the range. If you were using more than one burner to cook the same foods as the crock pot, it would cost you 27-38 cents for a half hour on the stove. Use a crock pot! An added advantage is the crock pot will help to heat your room so if you work in your home office all day place the crock pot in that room and you can turn down the heat!

  • Using the oven on your stove costs about 43 cents per hour. The microwave is only 29 cents, but a toaster oven is only 11 cents per hour. If you are using the oven for one menu item, plan all your dishes for oven cooking that night. Now would be a good time to toss in a batch of cookies for lunches the next few days. A batch of chocolate chip cookies cost about $2.50, a bag in the grocery store about $3.50. In addition the homemade makes twice as much as the amount in the bag.

  • You only need to preheat if you are baking and the recipe takes more than 30 minutes to bake. You should however, always preheat when baking yeast breads.

  • Every time you open the oven door hot air escapes and the temperature goes down 20 degrees . Now, you need to cook longer since it take time for the oven to come back up to the correct temperature. Avoid the temptation to sneak a peek, use the light and window in the door instead.

can you tell me what prices (electric and Natural gas?) are being used as the basis for these calculations.

  2. Carolyn says:

No I can’t. It was a government study and the basic costs were not provided. I think the important thing to understand is the relationship among them and to know the least expensive method for cooking.

Thanks for the information!  I have long known about the crockpot advantage, but the skillet vs. stove top was new.  Just last week I was looking at the toaster ovens at Walmart wondering about wattage/cost to operate/etc.  They have some larger toaster ovens that are big enough to cook a 9×13 pan or 2 loaves of bread.  Those would probably use a bit more electricity than the ones in the study, but very likely less than using a conventional oven.  Thanks, again.

I have a toaster oven that has regular toaster slots on the top so you can toast bread and bagels. You just slide the knob which closes the slots and then it can be used as a toaster oven. I love it! I have onlty been able to find the double slot one on the internet. You don’t want the one with only one slot, it’s too small. Yep, toaster ovens are great!
