More Scary News

This has not been a good week for weather news or news about food and fuel prices. Yesterday a study was released announcing the belief by experts, that there would be a major earthquake along the Hayward fault in the San Fransisco Bay area within the next 25 years. Statistically both the Hayward fault and the San Andreas faults are past due for a major quake. The Hayward fault affects the east bay from Oakland to San Jose. The San Andreas goes through the city itself and parts of the west bay and ares north. All this after the announcement last month that there is a 99% chance of a major quake in southern California in the next 30 years. This fault is also overdue to move. If you have family of friends in these areas please pass along this blog and get them stared on preparing. Prepare together and it will be more fun and peer pressure is good in this case. Remember, earthquakes affect water supplies and those with cans of dehydrated foods and grains are not prepared.

You may think an earthquake in California can’t affect you but you would be wrong. Much of our food comes directly from California. It is grown here and the foods we import come through the ports in both southern California and the Bay area.

Also this week gas prices went up again. Who would have thought a years ago that the fuel to transport our food to the grocery stores would have doubled! As long as they keep going up so will the cost of food, and it doesn’t look like the price of fuel will drop soon. Add to that the truckers strike in the Bay area and the possibility it could spread and there is another disaster in the making.
The price of airline fuel has gone up 40 % since January so is it any surprise the price of airline tickets have gone up as well?

Please get serious about preparing, at the very least get your 3 month supply of food and some water. Send an email to all your friends and tell them about our Where to begin Food Storage series. Post a link on your blog to this blog. I have had great comments on my Pack Your Bag, Where Staying Home guide to a stay at home vacation. It will help you plan for a fun vacation at home leaving the funds you would have spent on very, very, high gas prices or airline travel available for food storage. If you need basic preparedness information, or know others who do check out That Won’t Happen to Me.

It is not time to panic, it is time to make preparing a priority.

I’m warning you, now, you have been warned so warn your neighbors, family and friends. You don’t want them to ask you later; “why didn’t you warn me?”.
