Yes, a pandemic will happen again. Throughout history they had occurred about twice each century. We are due again. Hopefully we can somehow prove the numbers wrong and avoid it but just in case the experts are right we need to prepare.
When caring for a family member who is ill you will want to provide care while limiting the exposure of remaining family members. To do this you will need first, to protect yourself. You should have a supply of N95 medical masks stored. These come in adult sizes only and would need to be taped to a child’s face if they were needed for a child. For this reason it would also be good to have first aid tape stored. they are not perfect but they are what hospitals are stocking up on so we should too.
Medical gloves are also a must when trying to contain germs. After caring for a patient you will want to remove the gloves and dispose of them immediately, outside of your home. You will also need an anti bacterial hand cleaner to use before touching anything outside of a patient’s room.
I have purchased a set of white sheets for each bed in our home. Should the need arise I can now launder those sheets in hot water and also add bleach to further insure I will kill the germs and hopefully, limit their spread. If you have been following our Seven Steps you know we have already added bleach to our storage. We will be adding more. If you have not done so now would be a good time to purchase a couple of gallons of bleach and make sure as you use it, you replace it.
