Remember The College Students

college.jpgI have been watching with great sadness the news of the last two days. I saw that a tornado devastated a college campus. Did you hear that of the 1200 cars on campus 1100 were destroyed? How very frightening for the parents of those kids. I remember after Hurricane Katrina the damage to some college campuses. Because of all the horror in New Orleans many other places, including these campuses, were overlooked by the media.

Yesterday I read of the young couple who were stranded in the mountains of Utah for 11 days. Yes, 11 Days! When I wrote about being stranded on the road I think a lot of people thought that just doesn't happen anymore…yes it does. Thank goodness they were together and kept their heads and survived with no lasting negative effects. (You can read the article Winter Travel on TotallyReady.com)
It did remind me that we really need to help the college students and young married couples in our lives prepare. Please think about getting them involved as you work on your Seven Steps or send them the Money Saving Ideas or just let them know what you are doing and get them excited too.

When we were college students our car broke down in the dessert on the way home from school for the summer. We had food and water but we could have used a few other things to make the wait for help more comfortable.

We had a similar experience. When we were in college we broke down on our way to go skiing. and our window actually got stuck rolled down. It would have been nice to have a mylar blanket to hang in the window until the tow truck could reach us.
