Save Money; Lose the Paper

It used to be that we needed to keep paper around in order to have a “paper trail” just in case we had a problem with a purchase, contract or even to record an education or other plan. With computer records and emails that we can mail to ourselves to track correspondence there is much less need to have an actual paper file.

1. When you do need to copy information use both sides of the paper, saves half on the cost of paper.

2. I hate it when I copy information from an email or a website and the website address or some other unimportant information prints on a second piece of paper. Turn the paper over and place it back in the paper bin on your printer or use it as paper for you children to draw a masterpiece.

3. Purchase cloth napkins and use them. Napkins take up very little room in the washer and add very little volume to a load of wash that needs to be dried. I recommend white as they can be bleached and remain stain free for a long time.

4. Get a stash of rags. Get into the habit of using rags instead of paper towels for all cleaning. I used to use paper towels to drain cooked foods like bacon. Now I drain them by placing a cookie cooling rack on a cookie sheet and then placing the bacon on the rack.

Save the trees, sure, but save money at the same time.
