What’s New at Totally Ready for 2009

I have been thinking a lot about the next year and what changes I want to make to my blogging and writing schedule. I have a few ideas and I’m sure more will emerge as the economic and disaster scenarios play out during the year. There are, however, a few plans I would like to share now.

We will finish up the 52 weeks of our Seven Steps program in January. I know many of you joined us late or could not keep up with that many steps and caring for your family. We will revisit those steps in a follow up which will allow you to complete all the suggestions as you can.

I have also felt strongly that it is time we focus on helping our children become self reliant and self confident enough to face the challenges in their lives. I’m afraid we have raised a generation of, now young adults, who feel entitled to a life free of work and sacrifice. That is not realistic and not a healthy view of the world. When we see those in their 50s moving in with mom and dad because they are broke because of bailing out their 20 and 30 something kids, it is obvious we need to get back to the basics of educating children about work and self reliance.

With the downturn in the economy, prices rising, pension funds failing and  jobs being downsized or disappearing we must continue to look at ways to save money and we will continue to do just that.

We also need to examine new ideas for earning a little more. Entrepreneurial endeavors are, of necessity, are becoming more common. We will be highlighting new businesses as we work together to help each other succeed. I would like to highlight a different business at least twice a month but that is really up to you. If you know someone with an internet business who would like a little free publicity please have them contact me at: carolyn@totallyReady.com.

We will continue examining ways to prepare for a pandemic both at home, at school and at work. We can not become complacent and imagine this issue has gone away. It has not.

And finally, probably, at least in my mind, the most important topic food storage. With food and supplies stored it will be so much easier for us to prosper during times of economic crisis.

Each month we will also announce a give away for the month. The items given away will be, of course, of a preparedness nature. I’ll announce the January give away on Wednesday so be sure to check in and Thursday I will be highlighting our first business and it is really…an exciting one!

To summarize, here is our new schedule for 2009!

Monday: Finish our Seven Steps and then move on to Food Storage

Tuesday:  Self Reliant Kids

Wednesday: Money Saving Tips

Thursday: New Business Highlights and Money Making Tips

Friday: Pandemic Preparations

If you have any ideas or suggestions for 2009 please send them to me and I will try to work them in soon.

I just got on your website for the first time today. It looks interesting. I’d like to know if anyone can give me some better tips on rotation of my food storage and a better way of accounting for new things that I add to it in the future.
    Thanks for your time.
